Final unofficial results for Carlsbad City Council. Ward 1 incumbent Edward T. Rodriguez unopposed 171 votes. Ward 2 Jeffrey Forrest defeats incumbent Leo Estrada 341 to 264. Ward 3 Karla Hamel defeated Dick Van Dyk 270 to 178. Hamel replaces incumbent Jason Shirley who decided not to seek another term. Ward 4 incumbent Mark Walterscheild was unopposed and received 530 votes.
Waiting for election results from Artesia and Loving. Deputy Eddy County Clerk Cara Cook said people living in Hope, Artesia, Carlsbad or Loving could vote outside of their respective municipality. Meaning people from Artesia and working in Carlsbad could vote in Artesia and vice versa.
Eddy County Clerk’s office says 3,023 ballots cast so far. Carlsbad City Council Ward 2 Jeffrey Forrest increases lead over incumbent Leo Estrada 341 to 264. Ward 3 Karla Hamel leads Dick Van Dyk 270 to 176.

Early and absentee results Carlsbad City Council Ward 2 Jeff Forrest leads incumbent Leo Estrada 125 to 94 and in Ward 3 Karla Hamel leads Dick Van Dyk 81 to 64, Winner replaces Jason Shirley who chose not to seek another term.
Carlsbad City Council incumbents Edward Rodriguez Ward 1 has 46 early and absentee votes and Ward 4 incumbent Mark Walterscheid has 200 early and absentee votes. Both are unopposed.
Early Carlsbad City Council results from ballots cast at the Eddy County Clerk’s office. Ward 2 Jeff Forrest leads incumbent Leo Estrada 120 to 84 and Ward 3 Karla Hamel leads Dick Van Dyk 73 to 59.
Polls close at 7 p.m. Voting totals from the New Mexico Secretary of State’s office indicated 989 Democrats voted absentee, early in-person and while the polls were open earlier today. Eddy County Republicans led all voters with 2,606 voting absentee, early in-person and earlier today.
