“I want to thank the members of the East County Chamber of Commerce for this award,” said Casa de Pico owner and operator Diane Powers. “I am so proud of every person who has made Casa de Pico the beloved dining destination it is today, and we are all proud to be part of the East County business community.”
Casa de Pico opened in 1971 at its original location in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. In 2005, the restaurant relocated to Grossmont Center in La Mesa, bringing its vibrant colors and hacienda-like atmosphere to East County.
“From the beginning, I wanted Casa de Pico to capture the vibrant spirit of Mexico that I fell in love with all those years ago,” Powers told Patch.
“We are grateful to the residents of La Mesa for welcoming us into their community so ardently and helping us become the ‘Best Restaurant in East County.’ We are so proud of the restaurant and the great work being done by the general manager Lino Rodarte and entire Pico team.”
Casa de Pico is one of three dining destinations in Powers’ family of eateries serving fine Mexican cuisine throughout San Diego County. Other restaurants include Casa Guadalajara in Old Town and Casa de Bandini at The Forum Carlsbad.
